Ideally located, being close to the east coast as well as the stunning scenery of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

This beautiful holiday cottage is situated in the hamlet of Thoresthorpe, in the countryside yet only half a mile from the market town of Alford.

 Nestled at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds, it is 400 yards from the working windmill at Alford. The windmill has a tea rooms serving delicious cream teas and light lunches.

The cottage is only 7 miles from sandy beaches, half a mile from shops, pubs and restaurants, fishing and golf are 4 miles away. If you like walking there are conservation walks from the cottage or for the more adventurous, the Lincolnshire Wolds.

The kitchen/dining area has a fully fitted kitchen with oven, hob and extractor, fridge with ice box, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and a dining table with seating for four. A highchair is also available.

The lounge area has a 32″ LCD widescreen digital TV with Freeview, a DVD player, or if you prefer to listen to a cd or the radio, there is a micro hi-fi system with CD/DVD and iPod dock. There is also a selection of books, board games and CD’s.

There are large windows and French doors with views over the private, secure, west-facing garden and is perfect place for watching the many species of birds that come in to the garden as well as enjoying the beautiful views across open fields to Alford’s working windmill  and the Lincolnshire Wolds beyond.

A picnic bench and barbeque are provided, if you fancy a bit of al fresco dining! 
 
The pretty double bedroom is decorated in a country cottage style with space for a travel cot. The overhead spotlights can be controlled from the bed and can also be dimmed.  There is a full-length mirror and also a small mirror with dressing shelf and stool below.  A hairdryer & hair straightener are also supplied for your convenience.

Bedroom two has 2 single beds with very comfortable mattresses and a view of the private garden, countryside and the Wolds beyond.

The bathroom has a luxurious spa bath and electric shower.  Speakers have been installed, to enable you to listen to the radio, CD or your iPod, whilst relaxing in the bath!  There is a chrome heated towel rail to warm up your towels and the large basin has a mirror with light and shaver point over.

Dogs are welcome at Sunflower cottage for an additional cost of £20 per week or £10 per short stay.

Helpful information

We understand that some families may require additional safety and security features. Here you will find some helpful information about the security features of Sunflower Cottage.

  •  French doors and windows have a combination of bolts and old style catches (see photos)
  • Restrictors fitted kichen cupboards and drawers
  • Driveway and road to fromt of cottage
  • Rear garden in fenced with a 3 foot gate leading to front of cottage.
  • Steep drop down to a small stream which runs parallel to the cottage and could be accessed through a gap in the trees between driveway and field. (please ask for images)

Louth -The historic market town of Louth with its quaint streets and shops is only 20 minutes away.

Lincoln – Sunflower cottage is just one hour from the beautiful city of Lincoln, with its stunning cathedral and huge variety of shops

Horncastle – A must for any antiques or bric-a-brac collectors. Only 30 minutes away

Radcliffe Donkey Sanctury – See the wonderful work done by the staff and volunteers and of course, come and meet the Donkeys! Only 8 minutes frtom the cottage

Woodthorpe garden centre –With so much to do at Woodthorpe you could easily spend the day with us. Enjoy the Dinothorpe attraction, then relax in the restaurant with a spot of lunch with the children. Let them burn off some energy in the play area and enjoy some peace and quiet as they navigate their way through the full-size maze or enjoy a tasty treat at the Ice-cream Shack next to the beautiful outdoor
seating area that leads to the huge play area – Only 4 minutes away!

On your Marques  – On Your Marques’ Model Car Museum, situated on the East Coast of Lincolnshire, has opened its doors to motoring enthusiasts alike for the past 14 years. As well as some 4,500 models on display each season, the museum also hosts a café and a 45-metre-long Scalextric track, which always provides fun for all the family. Only 8 minutes away.

Lincolnshire aquapark –Eight trampolines, two slides, inflatable climbing walls, balance beams, blast bag to catapult people up to 4 meters high, mega cyclone spinning hamster wheel to climb inside of, the park’s marquee feature and the colossal 5-metre-high Jungle Joe. 10 minutes from the cottage.

Before and During your Stay

We understand that preparing an autistic person for a holiday can be challenging. At spectrum holidays we are always looking for ways to make this process easier for our families. We have visited each of the holiday homes personally and have put together a social story for each one. Just let us know how we can best support you in your holiday preparation and we will create personalised visual countdown calendar or timetable for you!

Inside the holiday homes you will find a set of visuals to help support you while on holiday, there is also a “now, next, later” travel keyring to take out and about with you as well as some information about the local area.

We work closely with all of our holiday home owners so there will always be someone available to help should you have any problems during your holiday. Please contact Spectrum Holidays in the first instance with any queries or issues and if applicable we will contact the holiday home owner on your behalf. We can also provide information on the surrounding area, local amenities or visitor attractions.
